Calgary Legal Guidance recognizes that people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness have unique legal needs.
The Homeless Outreach Program (HOP) team gives legal advice and services along with emotional support and social agency referrals through our lawyer and non-lawyer advocate team. This includes representing people who are facing criminal charges or are being evicted.
We can also give free legal answers to questions about:
- Evictions/Landlord-tenant issues
- Leases/Renting
- Criminal charges
- Tickets
- Human Rights
- Abuse/Family Violence
- And more

ID Clinics
Do you need photo identification?
CLG can help by providing you with a photo card notarized by a lawyer. The card is accepted by many different places but is not government ID. This ID card is made free of charge at two locations each month:
- Calgary Legal Guidance
- The Women’s Centre of Calgary
What can you use this ID for?
Applying for a job, filing your taxes, applying to rent an apartment, travelling within the country, i.e. Greyhound Bus & West Jet (with other pieces of ID), visiting family and friends at Calgary Remand Centre.
The ID can be used for legal purposes such as opening a bank account. If you need to open an account, the RBC Royal Bank at 339 – 8 Ave SW accepts CLG’s ID as a form of picture ID. Other locations may or may not accept this ID.
